Talladega National Forest is beautiful, y'all

Take a look...

If I could stay lost in the woods, you'd never see me again. There is nothing like walking through the forest, climbing the rocks, weaving through the trees, watching deer and rabbits and squirrels scurry off. The silence, except for the rustling leaves and me, trying to catch my breath! The squeezing through some spots, just to end up in a huge clearing not too far ahead, and the decision to keep going and see where I end up, or turn back and get back to the car before dark. It's definitely not the Narrows or Yellowstone or one of the national parks, but it is magical, nonetheless. We arrived just before sunset, taking the Pinhoti Trail. It was quite the ride in the Jeep! We did a little monster truck rock climbing to get to the good views, although we could have just parked and walked up. It was stunning. I could sit there for hours just looking at the city below. It was so serene and simply breathtaking. There are so many trails to hike, over 140 miles stretching from Piedmont, Sylacauga, AL through to Cheaha State Park! One of the trails (Chinnabee Silent Trail) features a couple of waterfalls as well. Bonus: you can camp anywhere along the trail (permit may be required). There are SEVERAL spots you can pull off and pitch a tent or hang hammocks or set up a rooftop tent! Near the Pinhoti, there are also 2 designated campgrounds.
